The Stansted-based premium class only airline Eos celebrated its first anniversary, by coming top of the league in timekeeping on the London - New York route according to figures issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
It was just one year ago, 18 October 2005, in a launch closely watched by the airline industry, Eos Airlines began offering an innovative premium class only service tailored to transatlantic business travellers. With the demise of Concorde there had to be a market for this group of passengers who needed to bypass the ever increasing hurly burly of Heathrow and travel from door-to-door across the Atlantic as rapidly as possible. Eos” solution was Stansted with its very quick 'fast track' operation, the benefit of curbside service, and with a single runway there is none of the infuriating hold-ups that can occur at other airports.
Eos utilises specially configured Boeing 757s featuring only 48 78" lie-flat bed suites each offering 21 square feet of space and guaranteed aisle access.
Since its start-up just one year ago Eos is now twice daily and said it is planning further destinations for 2007. September resulted in record sales for the airline, with gross bookings up 65% versus the trailing three month average. Even with seating capacity virtually doubled the airline maintained load factors of 66% for the month. Forward bookings for October and November are also at unprecedented levels, up 56% versus the previous 90 days.
Eos chose the opening night of the new hit London musical Spamalot to entertain travel trade guests for a spectacular evening out culminating with the after-show party at the impressive Freemasons Hall attended by the cast and a host of personalities.
