Business Travel Show Europe: What impact are the current geopolitical tensions having on your travel programme and planning for the rest of the year?
Doromoniec Vieira: Our corporate security team and geopolitical analysts ensure real-time updates to our country risk matrix, ensuring our employees only travel to safe locations and remain fully supported. In practice, this leads to a leaner travel volume and higher fuel costs, both of which are incorporated into our financial forecasts and broader business planning.
BTS Europe: Has your focus on duty of care and traveller risk changed as a result and, if so, how?
Doromoniec Vieira: It has not changed because it has always been a top priority. During the last few years, we have learned to expect the unexpected, and our duty of care ecosystem reflects that.
BTS Europe: In what ways are you already applying or planning to apply AI in your programme?
Doromoniec Vieira: We have implemented a travel and expense chatbot which provides guidance on internal policies, corporate discounts, available tools and relevant contacts.
BTS Europe: Do you have concerns about AI that might prevent you from integrating it in your programme?
Doromoniec Vieira: Yes, there are several concerns such as data integrity, hallucinations and the need to eliminate undesirable or rogue responses to prevent reputational damage. However, we choose to work with technical experts to mitigate these risks rather than shying away from integrating AI into the programme.
BTS Europe: Why are you looking forward to attending Business Travel Show Europe? What’s your number one priority?
Doromoniec Vieira: For me, it is all about networking, meeting existing suppliers and staying ahead of the latest industry trends.
BTS Europe: Please share a shortcut tip to more innovative travel management.
Doromoniec Vieira: Think outside the box! We often operate within existing frameworks and do not question the status quo. For example, people assume we must have city caps or different rules based on job grades. Well, surprise, surprise – we do not!
Doromoniec Vieira will be speaking at Business Travel Show Europe on 25 June about strategic meetings management in a BTN Community buyer-only session.
