Ryanair is to use Google’s AI platforms as a way of making its operations more efficient and resilient as it targets reaching 300 million passengers per year.
The Ireland-based aviation company has struck a five-year deal with Google Cloud to utilise platforms such as Gemini Enterprise, Google Workspace and Google DeepMind.
The partnership will see Ryanair using DeepMind modes, including AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext, to assist fleet operations and the scheduling of maintenance.
Meanwhile Google’s multi-cloud platform will give Ryanair more flexibility to keep vital airline operations, including flights and customer services, running without interruption if there are technical problems with one of its cloud providers.
Gemini Enterprise will also be used to create customised AI agents, which can automate some areas of decision-making, optimise flight crew logistics and improve overall corporate productivity.
Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said the airline needed “excellent infrastructure resilience” as it aims to reach 300 million passengers per year by 2034.
“Our new dual-cloud strategy provides this, alongside technology partners that match our speed and relentless focus on efficiency,” added Wilson.
