DBA, once owned by British Airways, and courted by easyJet until union problems got in the way, is now planning to take over Germania Express, creating Germany”s third largest airline. It is also thought to have shown an interest in Olympic Airlines, now being put up for sale by the Greek government. DBA currently operates a fleet of 15 Boeing 737 aircraft carrying around 3m passengers annually and operating in the order of 125 flights daily. Germania Express was launched in June 2003 as the budget division of Germania, a long time established holiday charter company. It currently operates 17 Fokker 100 aircraft and would add about 1m passengers to the DBA numbers.
