Vaccinated travellers arriving in Barbados will soon be able
to reduce their quarantine to just one or two days.
The country joins a growing list that have lifted or lessened
restrictions for vaccinated travellers, which includes Israel,
Iceland,
Estonia and Romania.
Currently, all arrivals in Barbados must take a PCR test no earlier than
three days before arrival in the country and spend seven or eight nights in a
government-approved quarantine facility with a PCR test five days after
arrival.
From 8 May, vaccinated travellers will be able to take a
PCR test on arrival before heading to a quarantine facility using a government-approved
transport provider. On receipt of a negative test result, travellers can leave their quarantine; results are currently being delivered on average one or two days
after a test.
Travellers will be considered to be vaccinated if they have
completed a full regimen of vaccines for any of the Ministry of Health and
Wellness approved vaccinations more than two weeks prior to travel to Barbados.
Currently this applies to the AstraZeneza, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Johnson
& Johnson vaccines but others may be added.
The traveller must also show that they have not travelled
from or transited through a ‘country of special consideration’ within the
21-day period immediately prior to arrival.
