Turkish Airlines is expanding its network to China by introducing flights from Istanbul to Chengdu later this year.
The carrier plans to start flights to the capital of the Sichuan province on 11 November with three flights per week in both directions.
Turkish Airlines already flies from Istanbul to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, with Chengdu set to become its fourth destination in mainland China this winter.
The airline plans to use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the new route, which are configured with economy (270 seats) and business class (30 seats) cabins.
Ahmet Olmuştur, CEO Turkish Airlines, said: “China holds a strategically important position among Turkish Airlines’ key markets. We believe this new route will contribute to the continued growth of commercial, cultural, and tourism ties between Turkey and China.”
Turkish Airlines will fly from Istanbul to Chengdu on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while return flights from Chengdu will operate on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
