A HAMPTON BY HILTON hotel is to open in the North Terminal at Gatwick Airport in time for the London Olympics.
Currently an office block, Longbridge House will be converted into a 192- room hotel, although the project is still subject to planning permission.
The building is connected to the terminal by a covered walkway. If permission is granted, redevelopment work will start next year.
Elsewhere, Gatwick reported a 2.6 per cent fall in the number of passengers travelling through the airport in September 2010, compared to 2009. Long-haul traffic, however, rose by 7.1 per cent over the same period.
