A planned two-day strike by easyJet’s French pilots has been postponed until later in September to allow talks with the airline to continue.
Pilots’ union SNPL had called for its easyJet members to walk out on 13-14 September in a dispute over working conditions but this action has been postponed until 24-25 September.
SNPL said in a statement that the announcement of the original strike dates had led to the “resumption of a more serious dialogue” with easyJet’s management.
The union added that it welcomed the renewal of talks with easyJet, which centres on the airline's rostering policy for pilots, but the SNPL remained “vigilant” about the prospect of finding a solution to the dispute.
“At this stage, no firm commitment has yet been obtained on the main demands, especially with regard to the stability of the planning and working conditions,” said SNPL.
EasyJet has France-based pilots at six airports in the country: Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly, Lyon, Nice, Nantes and Bordeaux.
The airline’s cabin crew based in France held their own two-day strike last month as part of a separate dispute on “deteriorating” work conditions at the carrier.
