The Lufthansa Group has exercised options for 20 Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft, the rights of which were secured as part of a 2023 order for 40 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, the company announced on Thursday (17 September).
The list value of the additional aircraft is approximately $3.4 billion.
Delivery of the Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft is scheduled to begin in the early 2030s, according to Lufthansa. The new planes are expected to "gradually” replace older Airbus A320 family aircraft across the group.
The order forms part of the aviation giant’s ongoing fleet modernisation programme. By 2035, the group expects to take delivery of more than 250 new aircraft.
