CRUXTON BUSINESS TRAVEL HAS BECOME the sixth new member of the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) since it started a recruitment drive in February last year.
The Harrow-based agency's addition means the GTMC welcomed a record number of annual admissions in 2010.
Cruxton's chief executive, Muslim Kanji, said: "The GTMC's composition of the crème de la crème in the business travel industry and its long-standing relationships with industry suppliers is simply invaluable.
"The GTMC's powerful lobbying and representation was, however, the chief influencer in what has become a challenging environment, where the business travel industry's contribution to the economy is being taken for granted and at times severely penalised."
The admission of Cruxton follows that of Amersham-based Giles Travel; Wings Travel Management; TD Travel Group, which has four north England locations; London and Berkshire-based Scholefield Turnbull and Partners, and City of London company Baxter Hoare.
Anne Godfrey, chief executive of the GTMC, said: "To have six new members in such a short time, in an industry still in recovery from the financial restraints of the past few years and at a time of consolidation within the industry, demonstrates the regard the organisation has in the industry."
She added: "Members are reporting return on investment and that is crucial in this climate."
