Eivind Roald
Budget long-haul carrier Norse Atlantic has named Eivind Roald as its new president and CEO - taking over from the airline’s founder Bjørn Tore Larsen.
Roald, who was chief commercial officer at Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) during the 2010s, takes up his position at Norse Atlantic with immediate effect.
The Norway-based airline operates a network of long-haul flights from European airports, as well as chartering some of its aircraft to other carriers.
Larsen said: “I am pleased to welcome such an experienced leader to continue the work we have started at Norse. Anyone who has followed SAS’s development knows the extraordinary impact Eivind had as its commercial director.
“We have been searching for someone who understands the aviation industry, knows how to commercialise businesses and brings technological insight - combined with the ability to be a strong team-leader and builder.”
In a statement, Norse Atlantic said that Larsen would “continue supporting the company” from his position as chairman of the board.
Roald has more than 30 years’ experience across aviation, technology and commercial transformation. His most recent role was as CEO of “turnaround “specialist CRST Advisory.
“Norse holds a unique position with a modern fleet, an attractive product, and a balanced business model with long-term charters as well as attractive own scheduled flights,” said Roald.
