Air passengers in Italy could face delays on Tuesday (21 July) after aviation sector unions called a series of strikes.
The strike expected to have the greatest impact on travellers is a 24-hour nationwide walkout by easyJet cabin crew, called by the USB Lavoro Privato union.
As with all strikes affecting public services in Italy, protected time slots will remain in place from 07:00 to 10:00 and 18:00 to 21:00, when scheduled flights are generally protected from disruption.
Additional strikes will affect airports across Italy. These include a 24-hour strike by employees of logistics and ground handling companies Alha and Mle-Bcube at Milan Malpensa Airport. The airport has warned of delays and flight cancellations.
Ground handlers at Lamezia Terme Airport, in the Calabria region, will also walk off the job for 24 hours.
Ground handling staff at GH Napoli and Sky Services in Naples and Salerno will strike for four hours, from 10:00 to 14:00, while workers at Sardinia's Olbia and Alghero airports will walk out from 13:00 to 17:00.
