The UK Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) said it the number of trips booked by its members in 2005 rose by 10%.
It said that its members who handle 75% of the country's business trips, made 12,000,000 bookings last year.
The figures included bookings for 6.1m flights, up 7% on 2004, 2.7m hotel stays, up 25% on 2004 and 2.1m rail bookings, up 6% on 2004.

Mr Carlisle said that the biggest increase was in hotel bookings which during the second quarter of the year rose by a "staggering" 30%.
But rail bookings were also up with most of them for domestic journeys.
"Business travellers are making more rail trips and they – and their employers – are increasingly recognising that booking even short journeys through a travel management company is more cost-effective than buying tickets on the day of travel and then claiming the cash back on expenses," he said.
