New research reveals business travellers are growing more health-conscious while on the road, with those in some regions more aware of their habits than others.
Globally, 42 per cent of travellers surveyed by travel management platform CWT said they work hard to adhere to their health and wellness routines during a work trip. This is compared to 38 per cent who said the same in 2017.
Overall, 38 per cent of business travellers said they eat healthier while on the road. Those in Asia Pacific are the most likely to eat healthier on a business trip (46 per cent) compared to those in the Americas (35 per cent) and Europe (29 per cent).
Asia Pacific travellers also work out more often while abroad (33 per cent) than they would at home, compared to their counterparts in the Americas (23 per cent) and Europe (21 per cent).
On the flip side, only 7 per cent of those surveyed said they do not adhere to health and wellness routines while travelling. The proportion is higher among Europeans (10 per cent) and Americans (8 per cent), with Asia Pacific travellers the least likely to disregard their normal routines (3 per cent).
When asked how they keep up with their fitness while travelling, 49 per cent said they use hotel exercise rooms and equipment, followed by hotel swimming pools (40 per cent) and in-room equipment such as yoga mats and stationary bikes (27 per cent).
