Business Travel News has won three accolades in the prestigious Business Travel Journalism Awards for 2022.
The awards, which are organised by travel management company CWT and have been held for past 19 years, are judged by an independent panel of travel managers, industry experts and communications specialists. They recognise distinguished business travel journalists across a range of categories.
BTN Europe won Editorial Team of the Year – following in the footsteps of BTN’s global editorial team, which had taken home this award for the previous two years.
Judges praised the BTN Europe team for “consistently delving behind complex issues and news to deliver timely, informative, challenging and original articles - borne from the team’s deep industry expertise and curiosity”.
Meanwhile, BTN Europe columnist Amon Cohen won two accolades, including a special award for the Best Contribution to Business Travel Journalism for his “impeccable reporting, which he delivers with flair, intelligence and a heavy dose of wit”.
Cohen also won the Features Journalist of the Year – Air award for his article for BTN Europe examining airline-imposed surcharges. Judges praised the feature for “shining a light where most airlines don’t want it shone”.
Paul Harvey, from BTN’s sister publication M&IT, won the New Media award for his visual reporting of the opening of London’s new Elizabeth Line train service.
The Business Travel Journalism Awards held its first in-person ceremony since 2019 at the Crypt at St Paul's Cathedral in central London on Monday (14 November).
The awards were presented by Julian Walker, CWT’s head of external market communications and PR, who said: “The 2022 Business Travel Journalism Awards shine a light on the exemplary standards of journalism upheld within the travel and meetings sphere.
“The entrants, short-listers and ultimate category winners this year have again proven the importance of the questions they ask our industry, to ensure it continues to progress and strive for excellence.”
