The Business Travel Association has set up a new Generation BTA Advisory Board to “engage with the next generation of leaders” within the sector.
The 13-strong board is composed of seven male and six female staff from TMCs across a mix of ages to “ensure a fair spread of experience and diversity”.
It will be responsible for assessing how the BTA and the corporate travel industry appeal to a wider and more diverse range of people. The board will work in groups to tackle issues and bring about “positive change”.
BTA’s CEO Clive Wratten explained: “It is vitally important that the business travel sector is represented by a diverse range of members.
“I’m confident that the board will help bring a fresh perspective into how we, as the BTA, represent everyone in business travel.”
Only three of the 13 TMC representatives on the new Generation board are under the age of 36 – the upper limit the organisation had initially set, which BTA chair Suzanne Horner said showed the current dearth of young talent in the industry.
All appointments to the board are for two years and members will choose their own chair who will also serve for two years.
