Network Rail has introduced a series of refinements to its online journey planner in a bid to make the booking process easier.
A cheapest fares section will be shown when initially visiting the site ” http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ ”while details of first class tickets will also be available, as will other train operator websites.
Future improvements due to be available later this year, include a facility to print timetables for selected journeys and a search section to look for the cheapest ticket across several days.
”We have listened to passengers and this new presentation will make it easier for them to find the right fare,” said chief executive, National Rail Enquiries, Chris Scoggins.
”We have run design workshops with passengers and consulted Passenger Focus to make sure we understand fully what passengers want.”
The National Rail website attracted 100m hits in 2006.
