Eurostar security staff have called off planned strike action at the last-minute following an improved pay offer.
Members of the RMT union working for security firm Mitie had been due to go on strike on Thursday and Friday (22-23 December) but this action has now been called off after the company made a pay offer of more than 10 per cent.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “These workers have fought hard for an improvement in the offer and succeeded.”
Eurostar is already planning to run a revised timetable on 23 and 24 December due to industrial action on the UK rail network. It will also not be able to run trains on 26 December due to the national rail strike being held by RMT members which will close the UK’s high-speed rail line to St Pancras in London.
