Lygg, the private aircraft platform for short-haul travel, is launching operations from Germany’s Bielefeld Airport from May.
The move enables business travellers to fly to cities including Munich, Copenhagen, Prague and Paris.
According to a statement, the Lygg service is initially targeting business travellers and corporate customers from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region.
Flymaas, the company that launched Lygg last year, is offering a door-to-door service combining the private flights with a chauffeur service to and from the airport.
Travellers wanting to use the Lygg service become members of the platform with three subscription services available enabling travel at a fixed time, a fixed volume or pay-as-you go. Tickets are not tied to a particular traveller within an organisation.
Roope Kekäläinen, co-founder and CEO of Lygg believes the pandemic has acted as a “catalyst for development within the business travel industry that started to evolve long before the crisis” including digitalisation, sustainability and the focus on the traveller experience.
"We are convinced that business travel will retain its relevance on the whole, since personal encounters between people are often indispensable. The launch of Lygg at Bielefeld Airport is a sign of the new orientation in the business travel sector. Our concept specifically focuses on the advantages of smaller airports and aircraft and we anticipate an increased demand for travel in smaller circles, especially in this day and age,” he said.
