GATE GOURMET on Sunday announced details of the non-binding voluntary redundancy programme it has offered to employees as well as the compensation payment deal presented to those workers who were dismissed on 10 August following their participation in what is accepted as an illegal wildcat strike. The Transport and General Workers Union says that constructive talks have taken place. Previously British Airways confirmed it had agreed the terms of a new deal that improves and extends the commercial arrangement between the airline and its Heathrow airport catering supplier. The airline says it is prepared to sign the deal as soon as Gate Gourmet and the Union reach a satisfactory agreement on their outstanding issues. BA”s long haul flights are now operating with full catering but Heathrow-based European services are still restricted to limited refreshments. Gatwick flights, whether main line, CitiExpress or by franchise carriers are not affected.
