Finnair plans to resume flights to Japan from 9 March.
The carrier said it will fly to Tokyo Narita four times a week from Helsinki. The flight will take about 13 hours because of the conflict in Ukraine.
Ole Orvér, chief commercial officer of Finnair, said: “Japan is one of our most important markets, and we want to continue offering safe and reliable connections between Helsinki and Tokyo.
“We continue to evaluate possible alternative routings for our flights to China and Korea and will communicate on these as soon as the plans are finalised.”
Earlier this week Finnair cancelled flights to China, Japan and Korea until 6 March, 2022.
The airline is still flying to Bangkok, Delhi, Phuket and Singapore, also with longer flight times to avoid Russian airspace.
