SAS in the form of Jorgen Lindegaard, president and CEO of the SAS Group, was in London last week promoting the new Copenhagen ” London City route and also telling one and all that after four years of cost cutting and losses the rejuvenated airline is likely to make a profit in 2005. On the subject of London City the twice-daily service (once at the weekends) has got off to a good start and the airline is seriously looking at a Stockholm (Arlanda) service for perhaps February 2006. This would probably be flown by Finnish subsidiary Blue1 who operate both the Avro RJ and Saab 2000. Whilst the Bombardier Dash 400 is fine for short haul services from LCY”s limited runway its shortcomings on payload/distance have already been highlighted, a problem which would be exacerbated when the weather warms up and with even higher summer passenger numbers. It could be that SAS goes Avro LCY? As to SAS disposing of its interest in bmi there has to be a seller and a buyer?
