British Airways will expand its long-haul network by nine per cent this winter, with plans to add two new routes and increase flights on existing connections.
The UK flag carrier will commence daily flights to Melbourne, Australia, from 9 January 2027. Flights will operate year-round from London Heathrow, via Kuala Lumpur.
From 23 October, the airline will also begin services from London Gatwick to Colombo, Sri Lanka, with flights operating three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
During the winter 2026 season, flights will be added to several existing long-haul routes.
A third daily flight from London Heathrow to Cape Town will start in December, while services between Heathrow and Tokyo's Haneda airport will increase to twice daily from the end of March.
On its transatlantic routes, BA will increase flights between London and New Orleans to four times weekly, while its Baltimore service will become daily and flights to Houston will operate 12 times weekly.
The long-haul network updates come as the carrier increases flights between London and both Bangkok and Singapore in response to increased demand following the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
British Airways has cancelled flights to Amman, Bahrain, Dubai and Tel Aviv up to and including 31 May, while flights to Doha are cancelled until 30 April.
