BA CONNECT is the new title for British Airways CitiExpress, the revamped regional subsidiary focussing on profitability within a two year time span, part of the Willie Walsh regeneration of the airline. As featured in ”Breaking News” in last week”s ABTN it will become operational from 26 March. No route changes are expected, with the possible exception of London City where a new destination could be added to supplement Edinburgh, Frankfurt and Geneva. The big feature is a transformation of marketing philosophy to match the proliferating ”no frills” airlines, with purchasable food on most routes and just two ticket classes. Out goes inclusive catering except at LCY. ”BA Connect” is the name of a non-restricted and changeable ticket at ”30 per transaction. ”BA Connect Plus” is fully flexible with airport lounge access and instant seat selection at the time of booking included in the price. Prices will start from ”110 one-way, including taxes, fees and charges. This fare level also allows travellers to earn Executive Club frequent flyer points and BA Miles. All customers will be eligible for membership of British Airways” Executive Club, as well as having access to on-line check-in, on-line boarding pass printing, self-service check-in and a valet bag service. Bookings go live on 1 February.
