Air India is to relaunch flights between Delhi and Rome from the start of its summer schedule in late March.
The carrier will the resume the route to the Italian capital for the first time since 2020 when it was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Air India will operate four weekly flights in both directions between Delhi and Rome Fiumicino Airport, starting from 25 March, with departures on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
The airline plans to use Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft on the route, which will be fitted with business and economy classes, offering 18 and 238 seats respectively.
The restoration of flights to Rome will increase Air India’s European network to eight airports in continental Europe, as well as three airports in the UK.
In a separate move, Air India has also announced a codeshare deal with Northern European carrier AirBaltic, which builds on an interline partnership established between the airlines last year.
This allows Air India to add its AI code on AirBaltic flights from Riga to its gateways of Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan Malpensa, Vienna, Zurich and London Gatwick airports.
