An American Airlines service from London Heathrow to Los Angeles made an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport this lunchtime (3 March) after a warning light signalled there was a fire in the cargo hold.
The Boeing 777-200 operating as Flight 137 to the US, was carrying 191 passengers and 14 crew but indications are the incident involved a faulty light. American says that the aircraft underwent an inspection at Glasgow.
”The pilot received a cargo hold fire warning light and elected to divert to Glasgow, where he landed safely at 13:28,” an AA spokesman confirmed to ABTN.
”It was a faulty indication and the aircraft was scheduled to depart at 14:30.”
