Hilton launches mobile booking service
Hilton Hotels has launched a mobile service for the UK allowing travellers to book stays via their mobile phones.
The Hilton Mobile service launched with Dublin-based specialist Mobile Travel Technologies (MTT) also allows users to change existing bookings and view hotel pictures and information
Hilton Mobile is integrated with the Hilton Hhonors loyalty scheme so members can view a points summary and book quickly with certain details already filled in.
There is also a Web App version for iPhone users. Using the iPhone's GPS the service can show a list of nearby Hilton hotels and their distance away.
Geraldine Calpin, vp brand web sites for Hilton Hotels, said: "By launching local mobile services for Hilton customers in the UK, we not only improve customer service, but create a new distribution channel for our products."
Hilton Mobile uses MTT's intelligent mobile hotel platform, m2bed, which automatically directs users to a view of the site suitable for their particular device.
MTT said the use of mobile travel services is growing by around 20% every month.
Gerry Samuels, MTT's founder and executive director, said: "Mobile technology is playing an increasing role in new marketing and distribution strategies of major hotel chains.
"As consumers increasingly take advantage of the convenience of mobile to make bookings and make changes on-the-go, hotel chains are now seeing strong revenue growth as well as having a customer service advantage."
