BlackBerry ‘app' targets business travellers
Online hotel reservation service HRS.com has targeted corporate travellers with the launch of a new application for BlackBerry smartphones.
The free software, available to download from BlackBerry's app website, allows users to book rooms at more than 230,000 hotels worldwide while travelling.
"The intelligent link between BlackBerry smartphones and the HRS service makes every aspect of researching and booking hotel rooms even more convenient - in particular for business travellers," said HRS' managing director Tobias Ragge.
Using the phone's inbuilt GPS, the HRS application can return hotel search results based on location and display them graphically using Google maps.
The software is designed to work with the BlackBerry's email and calendar clients to find hotels near to an upcoming meeting, or any address in the user's contact book.
Once a booking confirmation is received via email or SMS text message it can be transferred to a user's email calendar.
Budget hotelier Travelodge recently launched its own booking application for the BlackBerry. Neither HRS or Travelodge are currently available on the iPhone.
