MORE THAN TWO-THIRDS of respondents to a Business Travel & Meetings Show (BTMS) poll admit they still do not have a green buying policy, while 48 per cent say the recession has pushed eco-concerns off the agenda.
More than one in 10 (12 per cent) say going green "isn't economically viable right now", while 21 per cent say eco-friendliness "is simply not a priority". BTMS event director David Chapple insists: "Government and, indeed, global legislation is pushing 'green' firmly back up the agenda and as an industry we need to act.
The business travel sector can no longer ignore the importance of being green. Although suppliers and buyers are being increasingly proactive in this area, there's no denying they are finding it a challenge."
