AIRLINE MANUFACTURER BOEING has unveiled a new longer version of its 747 carrier.
The company said the 747-8 - which has been designed to serve the 400-500 seat long-haul market - had similar attributes to the delayed 787 Dreamliner.
Jim Albaugh, Boeing Commercial Airplanes' chief executive, said: "The new 747-8 Intercontinental features the latest in innovative technologies, applying many of the breakthroughs also found on the Dreamliner."
Boeing claims the new plane will have the lowest seat-mile cost of any large commercial jetliner, with 12 per cent lower costs than its predecessor, the B747-400.
