British Airways' figures continued to fall last month, with a drop in traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, of 2.9% compared to August 2009.
In July, the first month not to be affected by strike action or the ash crisis, traffic fell by 2.6%.
Capacity at the airline, measured in available seat kilometers, also fell in August 2010, compared to the same month in 2009, by 2.6%.
Non-premium traffic saw the largest drop (3.1%), while premium traffic fell by 1.4%.
According to BA, the fall in premium traffic was due to promotional activity in the premium cabins last year.
BA added it had seen a strong yield performance in both premium and non-premium sales.
In other news from the airline, BA has launched its new long-haul economy (world traveller) and premium economy (world traveller plus) product on the Heathrow-Mumbai route.
The airline has also launched a campaign in its executive Galleries lounge in T5 at Heathrow to promote England's bid to host the 2018 FIFA world cup - signatures from an electronic board will be replicated on the livery of the aircraft taking the bid team for their final presentation in December.
