Clive Wratten will step down at the end of the year
Clive Wratten will step down as chief executive of the UK’s Business Travel Association (BTA) in December after seven years in the role, the association announced on Tuesday (22 September).
Under Wratten’s leadership, the association remained financially resilient through the Covid-19 pandemic and strengthened its advocacy work, contributing to consultations on airport charges, rail reform and airline distribution.
Membership also grew during his tenure, and the BTA now represents more than 90 per cent of the UK’s managed travel market, according to the association.
Wratten will continue to lead the BTA until the end of December and work with its board and team “to ensure a smooth transition”.
Announcing his departure on LinkedIn, Wratten said: “I have loved every minute of leading this association and its members through the most turbulent period our industry has ever known. Steering the BTA through Covid, when the whole sector was grounded overnight, and helping it come out the other side stronger, louder and more relevant than ever, is what I am proudest of.”
He thanked the BTA’s board, members and partners, adding: “Seven years feels like the right amount of time to build something properly, and the right moment to hand it on to someone else. Stepping down, not stepping back.”
The BTA said details of Wratten’s successor would be announced “in due course”.
