THE AVIATION SECTOR IN GERMANY has been boosted by news that Lufthansa plans to recruit up to 4,000 new employees.
Some 2,200 flight attendants are to be recruited this year, as well as 900 ground service staff, 270 trainee pilots and more than 300 students.
Lufthansa's CEO Christoph Franz said that, while the airline is recruiting new staff to cope with the expansion of passenger capacity, the company was still working to reduce operating costs. Franz became Lufthansa's CEO on January 1, 2011.
