Taxi app Uber is to allow customers in London to book a journey up to 30 days in advance instead of requesting a trip when they want to travel.
The US-based technology company has initially enabled this ‘Scheduled Rides’ feature for Uber for Business customers before opening it up to all users within the next two weeks.
This means that Uber users will be able to pre-book for the first time and request a taxi between 15 minutes and 30 days in advance.
The price of these pre-booked journeys could be affected by “surge” pricing during rush-hour periods. Although, passengers will be able to cancel their journeys if they become too expensive.
Uber’s London general manager Tom Elvidge said: “Instead of tapping a button a few minutes before you need your ride, you can now tell us hours or days in advance when you need a car and we’ll do it for you.
“Many of our riders, especially business customers, have asked us to introduce this feature and we’re really excited to bring it to Londoners.”
Uber is currently in dispute with Transport for London over plans to force drivers from non-English -speaking countries to take a language test.
