Travel technology provider Amadeus has reported a jump in profits for 2015.
The company’s adjusted profit for the period ending December 31 grew 10.4 per cent to €751.8 million supported by a revenue increase of 14.5 per cent to €3.9 million.
The results were helped by a 22.1 per cent growth in its IT Solutions business, which was driven by the “continued migration” of large carriers in Asia-Pacific airlines, as well as upselling and contribution from new areas such as airport IT and payments.
Luis Maroto, president and CEO of Amadeus, said: “Amadeus enjoyed a highly successful 2015 with strong operational and financial performances.”
He added: “ Despite recent economic concerns we are positive for 2016 based upon the expansion of our offering to travel providers, the continuous improvement of our competitive position, the migration of additional carriers to the Altéa platform, the growth of New Businesses, and our strengthened position in the low-cost carrier and hybrid segment with the addition of Navitaire.”
The results follow the company’s launch of a new “fully online” GDS booking platform. Selling Platform Connect allows “real customization and localisation” and can be standardised across a company’s entire network.
Selling Platform Connect also includes ‘Cryptic Magic’ – a tool that allows users to switch between cryptic and graphic content during any part of the booking process. Commands from other GDSs can also be translated and converted from cryptic to graphic form, enabling travel consultants to use whichever method is quickest.
