Amadeus has renewed its agreement with German rail operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) to grow its online distribution and reach travellers outside of Europe.
The travel technology company said the new 3-year deal means corporate and traditional travel agencies will continue to offer DB’s full range of routes and fares via Amadeus rail services.
Amadeus’ rail platform is a “one stop-shop” for rail content.
“Today’s rail traveller is very different from 10 years ago, as travelling has evolved from a station-to-station process to a door-to-door experience,” said DB head of e-commerce Mathias Hueske.
“Therefore, we must adapt ourselves to remain competitive and meet the needs of the new traveller. Our expanded relationship with Amadeus secures the availability of DB’s offer in all channels the traveller might choose.”
Amadeus director of rail and ground travel, Thomas Drexler, said: “It has been over 20 years since we signed our first agreement with Deutsche Bahn. This relationship has matured significantly, and today we face exciting new developments which are transforming the rail scene.”
