Laurent Trevisani has been named interim CEO and chairman at SNCF
Laurent Trevisani has been named interim CEO and chairman of French national rail operator SNCF after the group’s former head Jean-Pierre Farandou accepted a ministerial position within the newly French government under prime minister Sébastien Lecornu.
Trevisani, who has built his carrier at SNCF and served as the group’s deputy managing director of strategy and finance since 2016, will take the helm until a permanent successor is appointed, SNCF said in a statement.
Farandou joined SNCF in 1981 and became CEO in 2019 after serving in several management positions related to production, marketing and operations. On Monday (13 October) he was appointed minister of labour and solidarity in the Lecornu government.
In a LinkedIn post this week, Farandou said: “I was due to leave the SNCF Group in a few weeks after a 45-year career and six years as president. The schedule accelerated this weekend. I have agreed to become minister of labour and solidarity in the new government of Sébastien Lecornu… I accepted this mission because work and solidarity are words that speak to me and have accompanied me throughout my career, and I considered it my duty to put myself at the service of France in this difficult period,” he said.
