FS Group CEO and GM Stefano Antonio Donnarumma has stepped down, bringing his mandate to an end a year early
Trenitalia owner FS Group has confirmed the resignation of its CEO and group general manager, Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, following weeks of speculation.
Donnarumma, who had held the role since July 2024, formally stepped down on 30 June after an extraordinary meeting of FS Group’s board of directors. The board acknowledged his resignation, bringing his mandate to an end a year early.
In a statement, FS Group recognised Donnarumma’s “commitment, professionalism and contribution” to the company’s strategic objectives and key industrial programmes.
The board said it would “initiate the procedures required to ensure the full continuity of the group’s governance and operations”.
Although a successor has not yet been named, local media reports suggest Trenitalia CEO Gianpiero Strisciuglio is expected to replace Donnarumma at FS Group. The same reports speculate that Sabrina De Filippis, currently head of FS Logistix, could then take over at Trenitalia.
The leadership change comes at a turbulent time for Italy’s railway system, following a series of technical failures, delays and service disruptions across both high-speed and regional networks. Last month, Trenitalia also informed customers it had suffered a cyber attack that exposed sensitive customer data.
