Travel services provider Travel Counsellors says it has seen a rise in global sales in the first half of 2018, driven by growth in demand from the corporate sector.
The firm’s total bookings reached £328 million in the six months to 30 June, an increase of 12 per cent from 2017. UK bookings alone rose to £242 million.
Travel Counsellors says increasing demand from its corporate clients played a ‘significant’ role in sales growth, with global business travel bookings up 12 per cent to £75 million. In the UK, corporate sales grew 15 per cent to £60 million.
The financial results follow June’s management buy-out of Travel Counsellors by private equity firm Vitruvian Partners. During its previous three-year investment from Equistone Partners Europe, the company invested £2 million in a new Manchester head office and grew its total annual sales by £130 million.
The company has also channelled £6 million into technological innovation, including the launch of a customer app and development of its in-house booking platform Phenix.
Steve Byrne, CEO of Travel Counsellors, said: “We apply equal measures of care and attention to our business travellers, reflected in the continuous growth the company has experienced in this area. In many cultures around the world, few things build trust like face-to-face meetings and for business travellers to be able to trust their Travel Counsellor to deliver seamless itineraries as they travel across the globe is an essential requirement to their success. Our concierge-style travel service truly puts care for clients, with attention to their individual requirements, at the heart of everything we do.”
