Members of the International Travel Partnership (ITP) stand to save their businesses time and money after the global agency consortium signed a deal with technology firm eGlobalfares.
The travel management company (TMC) consortium said the online platform - which is compatible with global distribution systems including Sabre, Galileo, Worldspan, Amadeus, Abacus and Apollo - would make booking and fulfilling tickets faster and easier for its members.
At present, a TMC wanting to ticket through a partner in another country has to communicate via email. This can be particularly challenging if, for example, the partner in question is in another time zone.
ITP said eGlobalfares is akin to a "closed network" giving members the ability to search, book and ticket via their partners in other markets at any time.
Jean-Claude-Fert, founder and chairman of ITP, said: "The eGlobalfares technology allows our partners, on any major GDS, the ability to search, compare, reserve, have tickets issued and maintain visibility of the reservation.
"Moreover, when on the same GDS, full management of reservations is also possible. We know this will be a marketing advantage for our partners."
The organisation only allows one TMC per country to join its network. Ian Allan Travel - also a member of the Guild of Travel Management Companies - is the UK's sole member.
