Evolvi Rail Systems has reported its split ticketing platform delivered £26.2 million of savings for TMCs partners who booked UK rail for clients in 2025.
The UK rail booking specialist, which is part of Portman Travel Group and used by some 130 TMCs, said more than half of its customer base is now using the split ticket option. This feature allows users to find savings by booking each leg of a UK rail journey separately, instead of buying an often more expensive return fare.
Split ticketing is currently available on 36 per cent of UK rail trips booked through the Evolvi platform – an increase of 7 per cent compared to the first half of 2025 – with the largest saving on a single booking coming in at £1,329.80.
Evolvi's managing director Darren Williams anticipates continued growth in 2026, forecasting that split ticketing will be accessible on "at least 40 per cent" of UK rail trips this year.
“We probably haven’t quite reached peak split ticketing, [since] not every tool offers the functionality, but our heavy users do [take advantage of it],” he said.
In 2025, Evolvi expanded its content offering through API integrations with Eurostar and French rail operator SNCF. Williams mentioned that more European rail operators are set to join the platform this year.
However, the split ticketing feature will likely remain limited to the UK, as Williams said other state-owned rail operators in Europe are “unlikely” to introduce the functionality within their infrastructure and “wouldn’t make it easy.”
