Electric vehicle (EV) rental platform Ufodrive plans to expand operations to the US following rapid growth in Europe, the company announced on Thursday.
The company, which specialises in providing self-service access to a fleet of electric vehicles through its app, as well as offering a SaaS (software as a service) platform for fleet management, recently opened its San Francisco base, where a full EV fleet will be active by the end of August.
Ufodrive reportedly plans to “quickly” expand to new locations across both the US and Europe, where it currently operates in 18 cities including London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Dublin.
The company also announced plans to open a global Tech Hub and Innovation Centre in Dublin later this month.
The moves come six months after car rental firm Hertz announced a hefty investment in Ufodrive in an effort to build up its sustainable options.
Ufodrive CEO and co-founder Aidan McClean said its expansion will help “accelerate the transition to sustainable rental and introduce more and more people to the joy of driving electric”.
COO and co-founder, Renaud Marquet, added: “We’ve only just begun to expose the capabilities of EV platforms and utilise them to deliver a new level of rental experience for our customers.”
To accelerate its US expansion, the company has partnered with EV asset financing firm, Inspiration Mobility.
"Our strategic acquisition and financing partnership will allow Ufodrive to scale nationwide at pace,” said founder and CEO, Josh Green.
