WestJet has launched a new transatlantic service between Glasgow and Canada’s largest city Toronto.
The Canadian carrier will operate the route from the Scottish city to Toronto’s Pearson International airport four times per week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
WestJet has already resumed its route from Glasgow to Halifax in Nova Scotia with three services per week. Both routes from Glasgow will use WestJet’s Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.
Glasgow airport’s operations director Ronald Leitch said: “Toronto has always been a popular destination for our passengers, so we were thrilled to welcome WestJet’s new service to Glasgow airport.
“Our recovery, and that of the wider aviation industry, is continuing at pace and we are keen to continue to reconnect with our North American cousins after what has been a long absence.”
John Weatherill, WestJet’s chief commercial officer, added: “The launch of service between Toronto and Glasgow marks another milestone in recovery as we rebuild our network and strengthen transatlantic connectivity between our two countries.”
