Vietnamese airline Bamboo Airways is launching its first flights from the UK with a weekly service from Heathrow to Hanoi.
The carrier’s first departure from Heathrow is due to take off on Wednesday (23 March) as part of its plans to expand its international services across Europe and other parts of the world. The Heathrow-Hanoi route will then operate year-round every Sunday.
Bamboo will use a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner for its UK flights, featuring economy and business class cabins. Business passengers will also receive priority check-in and lounge access at Heathrow and Hanoi.
Dang Tat Thang, CEO of Bamboo Airways, said: “London is one of the world’s financial and cultural hubs, so we expect our new service will further promote the connectivity between Vietnam and the UK, thus contributing to leveraging Vietnam aviation in the global market.
“Our goal is to expand across Europe, US, Australia, and Asia and we aim to have 40 international routes in place.”
Heathrow chief commercial officer Ross Baker added: “The frequent direct flights from the UK’s hub airport to Vietnam will give British businesses access to a fast-growing market.”
Vietnam currently requires all visitors, regardless of Covid-19 vaccination status, to provide proof of a negative test taken within 72 hours of departure for PCR tests or within 24 hours for a lateral flow test.
