Singapore Airlines (SIA) is increasing flights to Europe this summer as it continues to rebuild capacity following the pandemic.
The carrier is adding extra flights from Singapore to Barcelona, Frankfurt and Rome this summer to “meet higher demand during the 2023 summer peak”.
SIA Group’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot is also offering more services between Singapore and Athens this summer.
The aviation company said overall capacity is expected to reach around 83 per cent of pre-Covid levels for the six months between April and September 2023.
SIA Group posted its highest-ever net profit for the 2022-2023 financial year as it benefited from record revenue, operating profit and passenger load factor.
It made a net profit of SG$2.16 billion (€1.5 billion) for the year to 31 March 2023, as total revenue rose by 133 per cent compared with the previous year.
Load factors for the group’s airlines also achieved a record high during the year at 85.4 per cent – a rise of 55 percentage points on the previous year. Singapore Airlines filled 85.8 per cent of its seats and Scoot had a load factor of 83.9 per cent.
