With a 56-seat Boeing 767 due for delivery next year PrivatAir, the Geneva-based executive aircraft operator looking even further ahead with the first order for an individually tailored Boeing 787. Boeing says that the list price of a 787-8 Dreamliner is currently US $53m (”75 m). The 787 complements PrivatAir”s existing Boeing fleet, which includes one 757, three Boeing Business Jets (BBJs) and one BBJ2. In total the company operates over 40 aircraft ranging from the Boeing 757 and Airbus A319 large passenger aircraft, to the Learjet 55 private jet.
”PrivatAir has been at the forefront of business aviation for three decades,” said PrivatAir CEO Greg Thomas. ”We were the very first commercial operator of the Boeing Business Jet, and the first to operate a luxury-configured 767 for our VIP charter business.”
PrivatAir is evaluating the two engine options, the General Electric GEnx and the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes, vice president of sales for Europe, Russia and Central Asia, Marlin Dailey said: ”Working with PrivatAir is an excellent way for us to continue and expand our success in the corporate aircraft market. PrivatAir”s order is another example of the 787-8 exceptional versatility”.
The current order book for the Boeing 787 stands at around 450. First flight is expected by early summer next year.
