Established at Gatwick last year Centralwings, the LOT-owned Polish budget carrier has now introduced a three times a week Warsaw service from the north London airport.
”Stansted is an exceptionally attractive base for low cost carriers and we are particularly excited to be operating the only current direct air link to Warsaw,” said CEO Maciej Kwiatkowski.
”We are already seeing huge demand from passengers intending to use the route for both business and leisure purposes. The overall expansion in our flight network is giving our passengers far greater convenience and choice in terms of both destinations served and chances to save money on the cost of tickets. Stansted is the second airport that we now fly to in London. We have operated highly successful routes from London Gatwick since February 2005 which now serves Warsaw, Wroclaw, and Krakow.
”Warsaw is a vibrant and fast developing city with great business and investment opportunities. Visitors will also find it an interesting city to explore, particularly if they are travelling there for the first time.”
The new flights between Stansted and Warsaw are part of an extensive expansion by Centralwings during its 2006-7 winter schedule. The airline is also celebrating an inaugural flight between Warsaw and Lille.
Centralwings has also recently launched four times weekly flights from Gatwick to Wrocaw (from 29 October); twice weekly flights between Shannon and Gdansk (from 30 October): and twice weekly flights from its new base in Cork to Krakow and Wrocaw (from 31 October).
The airline also operates routes into Edinburgh from Warsaw, Gdansk and Katowice; Shannon from Warsaw; and Dublin from Wrocaw, Gdansk and Katowice.
