France has banned arrivals from and departures from virtually every country from outside the European area with effect from midnight on Sunday.
Anyone coming from an EU member state as well as Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and the Vatican will require a negative PCR test result dating less than 72 hours before the departure.
Arrivals from Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Singapore and Thailand are excluded as they are not considered high-risk countries but arrivals must attest they are free of Covid symptoms, agree to a test on arrival if required and to quarantine for seven days.
Cross-border workers and hauliers, and a few limited other categories, are also exempt.
The new rules apply to all arrivals, whether by air, sea or land.
