Finnair plans to fly to more than 100 destinations worldwide in 2022 and, in anticipation, of the gradual opening up of Asia, will launch new services to several cities.
The airline’s summer 2022 schedule includes new Asian long-haul services to Busan, South Korea, Tokyo Haneda and Sapporo in Japan.
If travel restrictions allow, it will also resume services from its Helsinki base to the Japanese cities of Tokyo (14 weekly flights across Narita and Haneda airports), Osaka (daily), Nagoya (daily), and Fukuoka (three times a week).
Flights to Sapporo, new to Finnair’s summer schedule, will operate twice weekly. From 27 March, the airline will operate up to 40 flights a week between Helsinki and Japan.
Finnair is also strengthening its US network with the launch of flights to Dallas.
“We look forward to the world opening again. Before the pandemic, Japan was our single largest market outside our home market, Finland, and we look forward to returning to all our five destinations in Japan,” said Ole Orvér, Finnair chief commercial officer.
“We are also opening a new route to Busan in South Korea, demonstrating our continuous commitment to offering the best connections between Europe and Asia via our Helsinki hub.”
Flights from Heathrow to Helsinki will increase to four per day for summer 2022, two of which will be flown by wide bodied Airbus A350 and A330 aircraft.
