The Spanish authorities on Friday suspended the licences of two-year old Air Madrid, predictably causing travel chaos at one of the busiest periods of the year. For non-Spanish speakers the situation is even more difficult as the airline”s website is only in that language, but effectively blames just about everyone else. Confidence in the carrier hit a low earlier in the week when an aircraft was seriously delayed, not the first in a whole series of problems. Spain planned to charter ”planes to repatriate some of the stranded passengers.
"This decision has been taken with total independence of the absolutely irresponsible and unilateral behaviour of the company," a Civil Aviation statement said.
